CBS SPORTS’ PETER KOSTIS TO SERVE AS GUEST OF HONOR FOR AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY’S 19TH HOLE CLUB IN PALM BEACH

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA (March 24, 2014) – The American Cancer Society Island of Palm Beach Unit has announced that cancer survivor, CBS Sports’ Peter Kostis will be serving as the Guest of Honor for the 46^th Annual 19^th Hole Club benefit on Monday, April 14 at The Breakers Ocean Course Clubhouse in Palm Beach.  The Society has also announced British Open Champion and CBS Sports golf broadcast commentator Ian Baker-Finch as the Master of Ceremonies for the event.  

Presented by the Addison Hines Charitable Trust, the 2014 19^th Hole Club will begin at 5:00 pm and includes a putting contest, chipping contest, “dinner by the bite” and golf clinic with Kostis and Baker-Finch. Directly preceding the event will be a Women’s “Tee” Party and Fashion Show at The Breakers HMF Restaurant commencing at 3:30 pm with jewelry from Tamara Comolli  Fine Jewelry.

Event Chairman Jamie Zahringer said, “We are thrilled to have Peter and Ian join us to raise support in the fight against cancer.  With the 19^th Hole Club event taking place the Monday after the Masters, we are sure to glean some memorable stories from their experiences at Augusta National while learning some useful putting and chipping tips.” He continued, “Guests will be able to utilize their newly acquired instruction against the pros for a putting and chipping contest which promises to engage and entertain.”

A world-renowned golf instructor, Peter Kostis was one of the original head instructors for the Golf Digest Golf Schools and is currently a contributing columnist for “Golf Magazine.” In 1992, Kostis joined CBS Sports as an on-course reporter and has been a part of the team for over 22 years. In addition to his CBS duties, he was the lead golf analyst for the USA Network from 1989-2004.  In June of last year, Kostis announced that he had been diagnosed with colon cancer and has undergone treatment after a successful surgery to rid him of cancer.  Said Kostis, “Because of early detection, the prognosis for a full recovery is excellent.  I had zero symptoms or family history.  I urge everyone, if you are over 50, to get a regular colonoscopy exam whether you think you need one or not.”

Handling the Master of Ceremonies duties and co-hosting the golf clinic with Kostis for the fundraising event will be local Florida resident, Ian Baker-Finch, who is best known for winning the 1991 British Open Championship and is also a member of the CBS golf broadcasting team with Kostis.

The Palm Beach Gala promises to “pack a punch” 
with its all-male chairmen roster.

The house will be packed at the legendary Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach on Saturday, February 1, 2014 as the American Cancer Society will host The Main Event in its quest to put an end to cancer. The gala, now in its 56^th year will deliver a “one-two punch” with a boxing theme that is being spearheaded by all-male chairmen.

Co-chaired by heavyweights Donald J. Trump, Thomas C. Quick, Patrick M. Park, and Vince Cerone, with Bob Holuba and Leslie Spero as Vice Chairmen and Petra Levin as Honorary Chairman, the evening will also feature a Special Guest appearance from World Boxing Champion Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini. Mancini held the World Boxing Association Lightweight Championship from 1982 to 1984.

Board of Trustees Chairman and Gala Co-Chairman Tom Quick said, “Since it began over a century ago, the American Cancer Society continues to fight a disease that has touched every person on some level throughout every corner of the world.  Our “Main Event” theme perfectly coincides with the American Cancer Society’s national campaign to ‘finish the fight’ against cancer. Palm Beach Outlets Announces Job Fair at Northwood University on January 9, 2014 - The New Year Brings New Opportunities

On January 9, 2014 Palm Beach Outlets will host a Job Fair at Northwood University in West Palm Beach. Retailers will be on hand to interview candidates who are seeking positions ranging from sales associates to management.

 

Over 100 stores will be hiring at the new outlet center.  Some of the stores participating in the job fair include, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, J.Crew | Crewcuts Factory, Tommy Hilfiger Company Store, Aerosoles, Gap Factory Store, Rawlings Sporting Goods, Destination Maternity and more.

 

Palm Beach Outlets and Northwood University collaborated for the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the campus of Northwood University at the Countess de Hoernle Student Life Center located at 2600 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach, 33409.

 

“We are pleased to host this important community event on our campus,” said Northwood University President Dr. Tom Duncan.  “As a business university, we are excited to partner with the Palm Beach Outlet Mall as it prepares to add over a thousand new jobs to the West Palm Beach economy.”
