5TH ANNUAL FESTIVAL OF TREES “THE MAGIC OF THE MOVIES” TO BE HELD AT THE ANN NORTON SCULPTURE GARDENS DECEMBER 2-4 & 7-11

The Ann Norton Sculpture Garden is pleased to announce its theme for the 5th Annual Festival of Trees.  Titled “The Magic of the Movies” each tree will be designed by area designers and philanthropists around iconic American movies.  The event commences on Friday, December 2, 2011 with a gala reception from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, continues throughout the weekend, and then will be on display daily beginning Wednesday, December 7 through Sunday, December 11 from 5:00 – 8:30 p.m.

The wonder of the decorated trees, characters in costume, music performances as well as a synchronized light and music show mesmerize adults as well as children.

This extraordinary event is the major fundraising vehicle for the Gardens and its award winning Community Enrichment Program: including Exhibitions, Literacy Days, Earth Days and on-going student visits made possible by outstanding collaboration and partnerships. Our programs foster responsible stewardship of our environment and the Gardens through education.

"Bottero, then, is what Baudelaire called a poet painter, that is, a painter who uses the medium to convey the poetry of his emotions, indeed, of his temperament.  He is a modernist painter, in the exploration of the gestural possibilities of painterly fluidity is of prime importance for him, but he is a poet in that he makes the medium resonate with feeling, and even tell a kind of emotional story."  - Critic Donald Kuspit
