MARCH OF DIMES BORN WITH STYLE CELEBRATES FASHION THROUGH THE DECADE


PALM BEACH, FL (December 5, 2012) – The ballroom was packed with Palm Beach’s most fashionable young friends for the Inaugural March of Dimes Born With Style event held at the Beach Club in Palm Beach on Tuesday, December 4. The evening starred local men and women of style who dressed in fashions representing the decades from the fabulous 50’s to the glittering 90’s.  Fashionista, Palm Beach supplied the clothing for several of the models while DJ Adam Lipson spun tunes of each era while Josh Cohen emceed the event that had the crowd on its feet roaring with applause.

Committee members included Monique Javarone representing the 1950’s in a beautiful vintage chiffon gown, Sheryl Rosin representing the 60’s wearing vintage Monique Lhuillier, Justin Lynch in vintage Lily Pulitzer representing the 70’s, Davis McDuffie wearing his own black velvet smoking jacket and Kristina Olsen looking like a true Valley Girl wearing vintage Krizia taking us back to the 80’s, and a gorgeously statuesque Lori Stoll looking like a bronze goddess in vintage Halston.  Committee member, Carla Cartier did the styling for the event, working with the models creating hairstyles and make up that turned them into glamorous icons of the generation they represented.
While the Born With Style committee members modeled, Cohen announced several of March of Dimes’ achievements through the decades including the founding of the organization by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the 1950’s and his goal to eradicate polio. Other decade highlights included the development of newborn screening for PKU in the 1960’s, the development of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the 1970’s, and the continued research that goes into the innovative research and therapies that make the March of Dimes a leading organization for families and babies.
Other highlights included a brief overview of the organization by Irma Tybuszynski, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Palm Beach affiliate of the March of Dimes who spoke about the importance of the March of Dimes both locally and internationally and a personal story on the support of the March of Dimes by Sheryl Rosin on the premature birth of her now healthy and grown up teenage daughter.
Sponsors for the evening included the International Polo Club Palm Beach, Laura Moore Tanne, and Tire Kingdom. The evening also included custom-created live auction packages included a Christopher Kaufmann Bracelet, Gucci Diamante Duffle Bag, and tickets for the March of Dimes 75th Anniversary Gala taking place in January.
